Timetable and Engagement Plan
The challenge is to ensure that we deliver RS2010 in a timely and effective way.
The indicative timetable is ambitious but achievable. We have made a good start in the region on establishing an evidence base, and more work is continuing on that. Read more about the evidence base.
A ‘Principles and Issues’ Paper was published in February 2009 to signal the challenges and opportunities for the new Regional Strategy. This was subject to full consultation from February to April 2009 allowing Northwest stakeholders to set and agree priorities.
Taking account of the responses to the Principles and Issues consultation, and other ongoing work, Part 1 (the high level strategic framework) of the Regional Strategy was published on 4th January 2010 and was open for consultation during January and February 2010. A revised Part 1, together with Part 2 (the detailed policies), will now be prepared for the statutory consultation process in the Summer 2010.
The exact timings are subject to change in the light of the adoption of new national legislation which will enable this strategy development work to provide the basis for the formal Single Integrated Strategy for the region.
We are also undertaking a full Sustainability Appraisal, including a Strategic Environmental Assessment and appropriate Equality and Diversity, Health, and Sub-regional and Rural Impact assessments. These are taking place alongside, and integrated with, the strategy development.
